This is the best of a group of pictures that was taken by Mathew Brady in the WASHINGTON studio. This picture was taken during the second of eight times Lincoln would be photographed by Brady and Gardner or one of the assistants.

1862 Abraham Lincoln
This is the best of the pictures of ABE standing. There are only a few taken this way. This Mathew Brady Picture was one of the first taken of the President after he took office. Some were taken with a large camera on Glass Plates.

Abe and Tad Lincoln
Tad was the only member of the family of the President to have his picture taken with his father taken on February 9, 1864. It is listed only as being taken by one of Brady's photographers at the White House. This print was widely circulated and hung in many Homes.

1858  Lincoln Debate
Lincoln and Steven Douglas entered into a series of 7 debates on September 18, 1858. Much of the debate talk was about slavery. These debates established Lincoln as a National figure. Douglas won the race for senatorship  and assured Lincoln of winning the race against Douglas for President in 1860.

Abraham Lincoln at Cooper Union
Lincoln journeyed to New York to speak to the "Young Men's Central Republican Union" on February 27, 1860. 1500 people were there to listen to this Illinois Republican speak even though there had been a snow storm that day. Lincoln went to Brady's New York studio that day to have this picture taken.
